Happy Summer Monroe Families!

Posted Date: 6/16/25 (7:42 PM)

Dear Monroe Families,

As we wrap up the 2024–25 school year and head into the summer, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to all the families who supported our 8th grade celebrations last week. From the promotion ceremony to all the fun and meaningful moments in between, your involvement helped make it special. We've never had so many parents on the dance floor showing off their moves! Congratulations to the Class of 2025 as they head off to Sheldon High School or other high schools! This group of 8th graders has been truly amazing—caring, fun, laid-back, and full of heart. We are so proud of them and excited for what’s ahead.

This year brought so many incredible experiences and memories:

  • Field trips to Camp Harlow, the University of Oregon, and Oregon State University.

  • Epic Student vs. Staff games.

  • Celebrations like our Talent Show, Field Day, and FLEX Days.

  • Affinity group events, engaging learning opportunities, and the daily chance to grow as MODEL Mustangs.

  • Band concert after band concert!
  • and more!

We are constantly reminded that we have the best Community. What makes Monroe truly special is the way our families show genuine care, collaborate with us, and sacrifice time and energy to invest in our students. You communicate your needs in a partnering way, show up when it matters, and give so generously—whether that’s time, resources, or support. A huge THANK-YOU to the parents who supported us in so many ways this year—helping with the student store, covering cafeteria duties, chaperoning events, providing meals for staff, and so much more. It’s because of this shared commitment that our school thrives.

And just as important, we have the best staff anywhere. EVERY adult in this building cares deeply—not just about the work, but about the students and each other. I’ve never been around a team that goes this far above and beyond. Whether it's staying late, jumping in to help a colleague, or finding new ways to engage students, they consistently show what it means to be all in. Monroe runs on heart, and our staff are at the center of that.

Looking ahead, we’re already excited for what’s to come! With new classes, new staff members, and an amazing group of incoming 6th graders, next year is filled with new opportunities and momentum.

Finally, we want to say a special goodbye and thank you to some beloved staff members who are moving on:

  • Mr. Harder (Spanish Immersion)

  • Jessica Olive (Speech Language Pathologist)

  • Jeff Montez (Long Term Educational Assistant Substitute)

  • Misty Bisby (Creative Writing)

  • Jillian Flanders (Math)

  • William McCauley (Long Term Social Studies 7 Substitute)
  • Denise Bacon (Health Assistant- retired)!

Their impact on students and our school community has been lasting and deeply appreciated. We wish them all the best in their next chapters.

Thank you again for your continued partnership and support. We hope you have a restful, fun, and safe summer—and we’ll see many of you around town or back in the fall!

Also, our final issue of The Monthly Mustang HERE from our student Journalism class!

For the last time this school year...GO MUSTANGS and Happy Summer!
